When you having diabetes it doesn’t mean that you should eat the special food different from other people which not have diabetes. Because the purpose of diabetes diet plan is maintain the blood glucose at normal level. So the most important in diabetes diet plan must includes a balanced diet nutrition. American Diabetic Association suggests some important points for your diabetes diet plan:
- Eat more fiber from fruits and vegetables than usual
- Eat over processed grain productsof whole grain foods
- Get dried beans (like pinto beans,etc) into your diabetic diet plan
- Get fish in your diet plan 2-3 times a week
- Choose some lean meat such as sirloin and pork loin
- Include non-fat dairy such as, non-fat yogurt, skim milk and non-fat cheese
- Choose calorie-free "diet" beverages and water instead of regular sweetened drinks
- For cooking, use liquid oils instead of solid fats that can be high in trans and saturated fats
- Eating too much of even healthy foods can cause to be over weight gain. So watch out your food portion sizes
- Cut down on high calorie foods like chips, cookies, cakes
- Remember to drink two glasses of water with each meal
Other point that also important beside diabetes diet plan are always check up your condition in routine and just be discipline with your diet plan because diabetes is totally preventable and the prescription only give a small patch. Don’t forget to discuss your diet plan to the doctor or your diet consultant and also your family, so you will feel better.
